Subject: [mdbirding] Worcester Co., OC Inlet Surf Scoter

Howdy,

My General Ecology class (Frostburg State, prof. Dr. William Pegg) took a DNR boat out to Skimmer Island and the northern most point of Assateague SP to survey coastal taxa. While seine-netting by the OC inlet on the park side, I spotted a SURF SCOTER tooling around the jetties to the southeast of the inlet, close to the shore of the park.

Good birding!
Matt

Protocol: Stationary
Comments: With FSU General Ecology class (Dr. William Pegg) and MD DNR staff (Gary, Chris - unfortunately I didn't catch their last names). While seine netting the inlet, we saw knobby whelk, mummichog, winter flounder, spot, striped killifish (nice male and female for marking contrast), dusky pipefish, lady and blue crabs.
