Subject: [MDBirding] Cliff Swallows in Cumberland, MD

On my way to look for Henslow's Sparrows (success) and Golden-, Blue-, or Mixed-Winged Warblers (abysmal failure) in Garrett County, I stopped and spent a wonderful hour or more watching and photographing the Cliff Swallows which have between 20 and 30 nests under the I-68 bridge, as was recently reported by Matt Tillett. Thanks, Matt, it's the first time I get a chance to do this. I posted several photos, which may give the wrong impression that the nests were close by and sitting on a ledge in front of me. They were, of course, quite high above my head.

The photos are near the end of my 2012 gallery: http://tweetweet.smugmug.com/Nature/Birds/2012/20951151_LrcVQz

The link for the first of them is http://tweetweet.smugmug.com/Nature/Birds/2012/i-CRFmnCB/0/Ti/IMG6143-Ti.jpg

Happy birding,

Evelyn
