Had a great day birding Worcester County. Decided to hit OC INLET today, Fri. It was hot, but the ocean breezes made it quite comfortable. Thanks to all who replied about wind direction and tides. Birded the inlet between 0745-0845, with a brisk, W wind. Best bird was my target bird of 3 WILSON's STORM PETRELS, albeit at a distance. Birding with my husband, we were able to pick out the white band around the tail and the typical "dancing" on the water that makes them stand out. Other highlights were 1 ROYAL TERN, 1 BLACK CROWNED NIGHT HERON, BROWN PELICANS. Next stop was Skimmer Island - no Gull-billed tern, but we were able to pick out a SANDWICH TERN, along with the 29 (at least), ROYAL TERNS, LITTLE BLUE HERONS, 25 BROWN PELICANS. Next, was Truitt's Landing, with 2 SALT MARSH SPARROWS being the highlight, out target bird. We then ended our day at Chincoteague (Virginia). All birds will be posted on E-bird. Good birding to all!
