Subject: [MDBirding] Fall Migration

During this morning's walk at Northampton Lake in Prince George's County, I
encountered my first two fall migrants of the year: a Spotted Sandpiper and
a Louisiana Waterthrush. One of the things I really enjoy about birding
developed areas is having an increased awareness of the comings and goings.
With consistent coverage, it doesn't take long to become acquainted with
the few birds that live there, and any newcomer is much more easily
detected than it would be at a park with more habitat.

Also of note was a continuing American Coot, which arrived sometime between
the night of June 20th and the morning of June 22nd.
