Jay Sheppard visited the Oxbow Lake Nature Preserve in Anne Arundel County early this morning. Mostly the expected birds were there. Notable is the number of Wood Ducks - which breed at Oxbow Lake.

Comments: Jay Sheppard's report. Conditions; Clear; wind calm, 78-83 F. Lake level a little lower than had been a month earlier. Some light damage from the derecho storm that hit June 29 just after dark; mostly medium to small branches broken and down but a few larger limbs. Top of American Chestnut was broken off by a larger limb from nearby Am. Beech falling over it. No turtles observed on any logs. one deer in middle of the marsh near the Egret Tree.
