Tried to do the auto tour at Patuxent today--it is still closed. Purple martins, barn swallows and bluebirds seen, plus brown thrasher, robins. Nice butterflies in garden outside the office, where they told us to check toward the end of the week about the drive. Bikes can still go in anytime, despite downed tree.

I walked the Liberty Dam Trail early this morning. I did not find any Summer Tanagers. Perhaps they were blown away by Friday night's storm. There were many shattered trees along the trail and nearby roads. BGE crews were pulling in there at 7.Though I did not see any birds until I reached the dam where some Cliff Swallows were flying aroundthere were numerous birds vocalizing including Pewee, Acadian Flycatcher, Wood Thrush, Yellow-throated Vireo, Ovenbird, Worm-eating Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrush, Black & white Warbler, Redstart, Parula, and Scarlet Tanager.
