Phil, A reliable place a bit farther south to view the Red-cockaded is in Croatan National Park just adjacent to New Bern, NC (gotta boost my fellow tarheels ya know!). Got some nice photos a few yrs back. The Swainson's Warbler was a nice addition. :D Paul Noell Balto. MD
