Subject: [MDBirding] Ho Co (Grasshopper Sparrows)

I birded the Howard Conservancy this morning and was overjoyed to see the Grasshopper Sparrows were successful in their nesting in the 99/woodstock rd field.
http://flic.kr/p/cuQBzW This shows the streaky breast of the young bird. Other clear breasted sparrows have young with streaked breasts so be aware Chipping and Field can be streaked

The field has been cut but there is a grassy/weedy swale running up the hillside and the birds were singing and easily seen there. I also had a fledgling Blue Grosbeak in a grove of cedar trees. I had many birds and other creatures in the cedar trees but no Juniper Hairstreaks which was one of my target hoped for sightings. I did not resort the cedar whomping which I have been advised to do by my entomologist friends......but there is always tomorrow
