Subject: [MDBirding] 7/11 - Swallows & Rail among others Swan Harbor, Harfor County

This morning Dr. Dave Larkin, Dr. Peter Lev, and I birded Swan Harbor from 7-9 AM. When we arrived the swallows were not in the numbers expected, with about 10 Tree Swallows, a couple Northern Rough-Winged, a couple Barn and a couple Bank Swallows. As we were leaving, the swallow activity picked up tremendously, with about 40 Bank Swallows and about 15 Tree Swallows on the road and the wires immediately in front of us.

In addition to the Swallows, we had the young Little Blue Heron (originally noted by Matt Hafner), a Green Heron perched on a bush in the marshy impoundment, a couple Great Egrets & Great Blue Herons, 1 Pied Billed Grebe in Juvenile plumage, 1 immature Virginia Rail, and a great look at a King Rail. We also saw 5 different Bald Eagles (mostly immatures).
