Subject: [MDBirding] Hummingbird Question

Situation: just got home from a week long vacation. The day I left I cleaned and filled three feeders and hoped that they'd last until today.

When I got home all three were emptied.

As I was leaving the grocery store, my neighbor called to tell me he found a dead hummer on my front porch, under the window.

Could the cause of death be:
-territorial dispute over the last feeder with sugar water?
-starvation?
-window strike?

I've never had a hummer so much as come close to my windows with any speed. One feeder sits just in front of the front window and it has never been an issue.

I welcome any thoughts or comments. As I type I'm sitting outside hoping to hear / see a hummer to know I've at least got one survivor. Sad thing to come home to...

Best,
