Dan Haas wondered:
Could the cause of death be:
-territorial dispute over the last feeder with sugar water?
-starvation?
-window strike?

Hi Dan
I can speak to the last point: My 3 port Humzinger hangs on my sliding glass patio door. This is at least the 3rd year for this location. Admittedly, until this year, i was rarely home to observe goings on. Being retired, i have had more time to observe this year. I also used some of that time to clean the patio door glass recently. Some time after that, i did observe my first hummer door strike. It occurred because of a dispute over feeding rights. The hummer that hit, didn't seem to hit hard and did fly off, but who knows.
My general feeling is that in this situation the birds would not have enough speed up to do themselves real harm. During migration, as for all birds, they would be much more susceptible to death from a window strike. It's also likely that they are not as delicate as they seem to us to be, but that would be for someone with more experience to confirm.
