Subject: [MDBirding] White Ibises still present Wed. AM at Pennyfield Lock

The two juvenile White Ibises were present at 8 AM this morning at the far end of the pond in the second impoundment. I passed Mary Ann Todd on the towpath and she helped me get on them.

I had tried for these two days ago at 8 PM without success. So I do not recommend that time; they have probably flown off to roost somewhere by then.

As for Ben Dehaven's comments on directions, he is right that Pennyfield is a confusing place the first time you go there--you do have to walk further down and then back track the other way on the towpath. But it's hard to remember that this is an issue once you are used to it. In any event, map pins are great, but verbal directions are certainly helpful and necessary in some instances. And I can sympathize with those frustrated by unnecessary hiking in this stifling heat and humidity! If you go today be sure to bring water.

And thanks to the Uncus for finding these birds!
