I was in northern New Jersey sampling in a contaminated phrag marsh and the hotel where I was staying had HBO (we don't at home). I thought the show was excellent. The only thing that would have really made this of wider appeal to non-birders would have been to label the birds. Sometimes they would say what the species was and they listed them all in order of appearance at the end but that doesn't help the novice or non-birder when the bird is being shown full screen.

Otherwise, a very enjoyable show! And Wednesday night they aired "The Big Year". They could have almost had a mini-marathon by running them back-to-back.

I thought the HBO documentary provided an interesting perspective for both birders and non-birders alike. Birders would certainly enjoy the great shots of the birds in the park and non-birders would appreciate as to why birds motivate people to spend time looking at them. I found the diversity of birders profiled, especially from young to old, a strong point of the documentary. The closing credits put a smile on my face when all of the birds shown in the documentary were listed under a Starring role. Good job HBO!
