Subject: [MDBirding] Kenilworth Trail Update

Hi Everyone,

I
want to thank the 17 birders who attended last weekends field trip to Kenilworth Park to learn about the threat a new bike trail poses to birding habitat in the park. The movement to look for an alternative route has grown from 2 birders chatting on the phone to
over 30 individuals taking part in field visits, conducting background
research, and communicating to others about the threat the bike trail
means to the greater Kenilworth Park wildlife.

Undoubtedly, we'll be joined by even more individuals and
organizations in the weeks to come to help the campaign to find a less
intrusive trail route, but time is of the essence. If we are to get the
National Parks System and DC government to take our concerns seriously
we'll have to make sure we have a good strategy and good communications.
To facilitate communication I've created a Yahoo! group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SaveKenilworthHabitat/ . Joining the Yahoo! Group will also give you access to files with relevant project documents.

Regarding strategy: a Strategy Meeting will be held this Sunday - 4pm atBusboys and Poets in Hyattsville, MD. For directions click here!

Thanks again for your support of the District's disappearing wildlife habitat!

Sincerely,

Jason Berry
Washington, DC
