Howdy,

While conducting a vegetation survey with Sara Rothemal today by Jennings Randolph Lake, we observed a pair of CERULEAN WARBLERS with a couple of newly-fledged young. An immature Common Raven was whooping nearby, and a few Canada warblers, Acadian flycatchers, a bald eagle, and a yellow-billed cuckoo were also milling about.

Also heard was a black bear, sputtering and snorting in the blackberry and multiflora rose about 75m from our survey site, but it didn't pop into view. We did observe a good sized bear on Friday by the roadside south of Frostburg. It was a great day to be in the woods in Western Maryland!

Cheers,
Matt
