Recall that in 1994 a Black-tailed Godwit showed up in July at Pea Island NWR (we saw it there) and many folks thought it was the same bird as had been seen earlier in Delaware, based on some plumage details...

But as Jim Says, they are long-distance fliers -- in 2008 we also saw the famous Bar-tailed Godwit E7 just after she had arrived from her 8-day non-stop from Alaska to the Miranda wetlands in New Zealand.

From what we know about godwits, touchdown may be in southern Argentina.
