Subject: [MDBirding] Smith Island on Saturday 7/28

Hi Folks!

Ed Boyd and I are planning to take the cruise from Point Lookout to Smith
Island on Saturday. On the cruise over we hope to see Wilson's
Storm-Petrels. Smith Island will have egrets, herons, Clapper Rails, Willets, Seaside
Sparrows and maybe a few early migrants. Tag-alongs welcome.

The cost for the cruise is $40 per person. The boat leaves the Pt. Lookout
marina at 10:00 A.M and takes about 90 minutes to reach Smith Island. We
will have about 2.5 hours on the island. More information is available
here: _http://www.smithislandcruises.com/solomons-island-cruises_
(http://www.smithislandcruises.com/solomons-island-cruises)

I have a standard route I follow. Total walking will be about 1.5 miles. It
will be hot and sunny. I always recommend a hat, long pants and a
long-sleeved shirt. One area of woods where we will look for migrants will be
EXTREMELY BUGGY. I will give you warning and then you can enter at your own
risk. :-)

If you read Harry Armistead's posts, he typically mentions getting a crab
cake sandwich at Ruke's. I plan to stop there before reboarding the boat.

I will post a report later...

Good Birding!

Jim
