Subject: [MDBirding] Dead Osprey -- possible causes?

Asking for a friend...
There is a dead Osprey hanging out of a nest on a platform. The wing is drooping over the side and the tail feathers can be seen blowing up in the wind, but that's all she can see. (Not sure if it's an immature or adult.) There are no other dead Ospreys nearby, but one Osprey was seen in the same area tangling with a Bald Eagle recently so maybe it was punctured. Any ideas what might have caused this? I thought heat-related stress, but almost all Ospreys are exposed 24/7 during the summer because of their nesting locations (up on a platform in the sun) so it seems like something they'd be used to by now. Also, should it be reported, and if so, to whom?
