Subject: [MDBirding] Dorchester County 7/30

Joe Byrnes, Jeff Culler, and I birded in Dorchester County on Monday 7/30.

The highlights were:
Egypt Rd - Northern Bobwhite calling in the area just pats the schools.

Blackwater NWR - We found 1 American White Pelican, which I later learned
had been missing since March. When we exited the Wildlife Drive we turned
left on Rt 335. The pelican was ~ 1 mile off the left side of the road. We
could not see it from the Wildlife Drive. Along the Wildlife Loop we had
Glossy Ibis 1, good numbers of shorebirds including Spotted Sandpiper, both
Yellowlegs, Semipalmated, Western, Least, Pectoral, and Stilt Sandpipers. 2
Red-headed Woodpeckers near Stop #4.

Toddville Rd - 3 Royal Tern at the end of the road. No sign of the
Yellow-crowned Night-Heron.

Bishops Head - A juvenile Little Blue Heron.

A stop at Tanyard Marsh, Caroline Couny, on the way home, had some
shorebirds including Semipalmated Plover, Semipalmated, Pectoral, and
Least Sandpipers, and Short-billed Dowitchers. A large flock of 240
Laughing Gulls turned up nothing different except for Forester's Terns.
