Subject: [MDBirding] Aug 24-25 Lewes Overnight Pelagic Still Needs Participants

See Life Paulagics's trip scheduled for August 24-25 out of Lewes, DE is
still about a dozen people short from sailing. Hopefully we can get enough
to get out.

This is an overnight trip. We'll leave about 11:00 PM and cruise through
the night. We expect to arrive in very deep water off the edge of the
Continental Shelf before dawn at which point we'll put out a chum slick.
By first light we should have a good flock of WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS and
we'll starting searching for other birds. On past trips this method has
been productive for LEACH'S, BAND-RUMPED, and even WHITE-FACED
STORM-PETRELS.

Other uncommon species we've found at this time of the year include SOUTH
POLAR SKUA, LONG-TAILED JAEGER, ARCTIC TERN, and SABINE'S GULL. Regularly
occurring birds include BRIDLED TERN, AUDUBON'S, CORY'S, and GREAT
SHEARWATER, and RED-NECKED PHALAROPE. We expect to return around 4:00 PM.

Our boat will be the 110' Thelma Dale V. Sleeping accommodations will be
benches and floor, with people being allowed to select their sleeping spot
in the order that they paid. The cost of the trip is $215.

Hope to see you aboard.
