Subject: [MDBirding] Guernsey's • The Roger Tory Peterson Auction Sep 8th, 2012 - 10:00 AM

For anyone with LOTS of spare cash, take note of this. I'm attaching the image showing lot 33 SHOREBIRDS, since that has been the subject of my recent posts. Sadly, these will be priced out of the range of almost all of us poor birders, but maybe not all so it seems worth posting. There are 11 pages in the on-line catalogue incl (it seems) 154 original artworks, photos by RTP, and even RTP's personal BINS...!!! Sadly, too it seems that the RTP Institute of Natural History in Jamestown, NY will receive no benefit from this sale. The institute houses RTP's "body of work" and is hoping that potential buyers may at some point donate some items from this sale to them. The institutemight be worth a trip if you happen to be in the area. Jamestown was RTP's place of birth. The Post ran a story on this sale in the Sunday paper, section E, page 5, "Bidding for biddies [sic]: Artwork by Roger Tory Peterson to be auctioned." Curiously, as if
substituting "biddies" for "birdies" in the title wasn't bad enough, the author alternates the spelling of RTP's last name as either Peterson or Paterson - where are the editors...!!!
