Subject: [MDBirding] Ho Co (Traill's in yard)

Exhibiting self control and trying to dig out from vacation backlog.....not
going out in the field. (yet) Watched a bit in the yard and spotted a
Traill's in the locust tree. Not as exciting as Rick's YB but an exciting
visitor to my yard. By the time I grabbed the camera and bins it had
disappeared. Did have my Barred Owls calling again.

Thinking of how wild West Va is for birding compared to suburbia Howard
County. I often bird/hike alone and sometimes get questioned about feeling
safe. I'm careful but not too concerned about going out and about alone. I
did have some twinges of unease in W Va and realized how little we have to
worry about around here. A quick video on my flickr site of a certain large
black bear that was competing with the birds for the Autumn Olive berries :)
There was also a cub up so high in a tree it looked like a vulture from a
distance!
