Hi All,

While waiting to be picked up from the Maryland Zoo today, several flocks of blackbirds flew by. Mostly Red-wings and a few grackles. However, at about 4:45 pm a group of six or so BOBOLINKS flew by. It was interesting to see them with the Red-wings. They flew separately, not mingling with them, but near enough to facilitate some comparison. Even without binoculars, it was easy to see how much longer and more pointed the wings were, and that they were more buoyant. Interestingly, they were fairly quiet. It seems they usually chatter non-stop and these guys only gave a few wink calls as they flew by.

Aside from that, nothing much of note. A few more flycatchers than usual, mostly Pewees, but at least one Empid (no binos, don't ask which one!) were present, but not much else.
