This morning 8-18-12 Dave Palmer and myself [Danny Poet] met up at the parking lot at Adkins Arboretum in Caroline County were we found 11 species of birds . Next we went to the Lake trail/boat Ramp area at the Queen Annes County side of the lake were we found a few migrants and resident birds and one very persistant call that neither of us could place sounding at times like it was over our head in a young maple at another time seem to come from the very nearby brush never seeing any movment . Dave after a time located a just out of the nest Cardinal baby making the call just head high in that young maple After that we made a mid /late morning stop at Central Sod farm near Queenstown to look for shorebirds were we found the Upland Sandpiper ,Solitary Sandpiper etc . Than a very late morning /early afternoon visit at Terrapin Park at Kent Island produced a few Redstarts and a murder of Crows . Then we spilt up I made a mid afternoon stop at the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center in Grasonville were there were a few shorebirds and herons and Egrets and a brief appearance by Dave Palmer. it was a great day to be out and we had a few neat sightings though not many rare sightings . below are some of the highlight sightings
