Subject: Re: [MDBirding] American Golden Plover at Hughes Rd. polo fields, Poolesville

1-1/2 hours later, there were "only" 66 Killdeer and no
Golden-plover, unfortunately. There was quite a bit of human and
equine activity at the far side of the polo fields, which may have
driven some of the grasspipers away.

By way of compensation, the polo fields were covered with Horned
Larks - adults and young. Must have been 100 or more. At one point,
a flock of 72 flew over and landed on the grass right in front of me,
close to the white fence that borders Hughes Rd.
