1-1/2 hours later, there were "only" 66 Killdeer and no Golden-plover, unfortunately. There was quite a bit of human and equine activity at the far side of the polo fields, which may have driven some of the grasspipers away.
By way of compensation, the polo fields were covered with Horned Larks - adults and young. Must have been 100 or more. At one point, a flock of 72 flew over and landed on the grass right in front of me, close to the white fence that borders Hughes Rd.
