I agree with my fellow birder and neophyte realtor ("location,
location"), Paul O'Brien, that Nighthawks seem to be avoiding part of
the Southern Montgomery County area this late August - early
September migration period. I'm just West of Suburban Hospital,
inside the Beltway.
I had just one Nighthawk last evening and just one this evening at
7:45 p.m., beating North at speed. I still have hopes for the next
week or so, and intend to be out on the back deck most evenings,
feeding mosquitoes and assorted other critters while I sit gazing at
the darkening sky.
