I saw 16 Hudsonian godwits flying SE over the K. G Ponds along route 3 near Sealston VA in King George Co at about 8:45ish this AM. Same birds?

Well I'll be damned.

While walking my dog this morning, at around 8:30 or soI saw an
approaching flock of what I thought were large shorebirds flying down the
bay. The wind was steady at 15 or so, and quitea bit gusty. I
originally saw the birds from a couple hundred yards ahead of me, less than 100
feet off the water, and less than 200 yards off shore. I stepped on the
dog's leash and was able to watch and count sixteen
HubickiHudsonian Godwits. (I think Bill strung the last
three.) I have some notes in the eBird submission linked below.

I was pleased to see Bill's report of seeing them at Fort Smallwood earlier
this morning. The timing is certainly such that these are possibly (and
likely) the same flock.

Since this morning's sightings, there has been a steady flow of
Double-crested Cormorants moving south down the bay, and a few dozen Great
Black-backed Gulls. There's a lot more action just off my pier today with
the east/northeast wind.

I am also hosting a ton of hummingbirds. I've never put feeders out
here before, as we are typically only here on weekends. But, I've been
here since mid-July, and have nine feeders out. I can easily count a dozen
or so birds in a day, based a bit on plumage difference, but also number seen at
one time. Hopefully I'll be able to keep them full throughout fall and
into November, and get something different.
