At precisely 8:00 pm thirteen nighthawks drifted over our house near the 4-H center on Connecticut Ave and then headed back to the bright lights of Bethesda. Maybe outliers to your bunch. Last Thursday we had two about 8:15, but otherwise none. Also have had an increasing number of bats at twilight, which I take to be a hopeful sign.

Had the biggest kettle I've ever seen in Maryland--at least 150 birds--in the Twinbrook section of Rockville, c. 7:45pm this Monday evening (intersection of Twinbrook Pkwy and Halpine Rd). Had my first at the same location Aug. 14 (which was the first eBird record in the county at the time since May), but these are the only ones since then. An impressive sight! An all-time eBird high count for Montgomery county.
