Subject: [MDBirding] Rock Creek - DC (Nice stuff!)

Hi Everyone,

I had the day off today and decided I would take advantage of what I suspected would be great owing to yesterday's cold front. I wish I could have gotten out earlier, but I biked over to Rock creek at 9 am and birded both the usual areas from the equine field to the Nature Center and Maintenance Yard for about 2 hours. While the birding was okay, I decided to head across Military road to Fort DeRussey and up to upper Beach Drive.

Highlights included12 Warbler species, my FOY Yellow-billed Cuckoo (wow, that took awhile!), Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, and Least Flycatcher. I also had quick views of what I thought was a immature Hooded Warbler in the maintenace yard and I'm pleased to see Wallace's crew got one in the same place this morning. I was also happy to see my first migrant and FOS Veery and Swainson's Thrush near the Stables.
