MDBirding:
Wednesday (8/29) evening (in the delightful weather!), Barbara and I
went for a walk in our neighborhood. Around 7:40 pm, a few minutes
after leaving our house, Barbara picked-up three large shorebirds
flying high north to south over the BGE right-of-way near our house.
We did not have binoculars with us (what kind of birders are we,
anyway?) and I could not pick up any plumage details, but from the
size and shape, I suspected godwits. One finally turned its head and
I was able to note a long bill.
I see that there were several large flocks of Hudwits reported on the
DC coast on Wednesday ... they seem to be on the move.
Almost got them as yard birds ...
