Subject: [MDBirding] Harford: Upland Sandpiper and Marbled Godwit

Greetings,

This morning, I found an Upland Sandpiper on what is known as M-field at the Edgewood Area of Aberdeen Proving Gound. This is within the restricted access (downrange) portion of the installation. From what I have been able to gather this sighting marks only the second occasion of this species within the confines of APG -the first being the two UPSAs that I had two or three weeks ago.

Last week (Thursday, 23 August), I found a Marbled Godwit (photos) on Spesutie Island -again, at APG. Like M-field, Spesutie Island is within the restricted access area of the proving ground; however, it is located at the Aberdeen Area of the installation (not the Edgewood Area). I beleive this is only the third record for this species in Harford County and the first record for this bird at APG.
