I birded at Cromwell before an intense mid-morning rain. Just north of the buildings at Willow Grove Farm I ran into a pocket of migrants including Magnolia (4), Chestnut-sided (1) and Blue-winged (1) warblers. And.there was a very dark warbler with dark brown back and face; no wing bars, eye ring or eye stripe; brown with a hint of yellow on the breast and undertail; a gray-brown area on the belly; and brown with a hint of yellow on the uppertail. I'm fairly sure this was a first year Common Yellowthroat, but by far the darkest I've seen (I did think about first year Mourning Warbler but couldn't make the details fit). Shape and behavior were consistent with Common Yellowthroat. If anyone has a different thought please let me know.
