Subject: [MDBirding] Unusual-Looking Warbler at Cromwell: Comments Requested

I was nearing the end of my time at Cromwell today and was at the "bowl" area in the woods behind the house by the path--an instruction area with benches. I saw a weird-lookng warbler. The first thing that crossed my mind was it was a hybrid of some kind: blue-winged/golden-winged. But no pictures I've seen in books or on Google quite capture what I saw of that kind of hybrid. The closest thing I could find--and I know it can't be this bird--is that of a female hermit warbler. The bird I saw I had a nicely yellow head (if there were any distinctive marking, I couldn't see them)---not strong yellow, but yellow enough, distinctive. The rest of it was a ghostly white and gray--and it had definite white wing bars. I thought the hybrid--and I thought maybe female blue-winged, or female blackburnian (but no) or young fall female black-throated green (but no). Maybe if a brewster's had white wing bars and a more yellow head, that would be it. Weird. Any thoughts any one?
