Hi All,

A quick spin by Patterson Park today proved incredibly productive! Though there were not huge numbers of species, what was there was pretty good. By the gardens an EMPIDONAX was foraging as were four OVENBIRDS. In the willow stands close to the Boat Lake, a single SWAINSON'S THRUSH and MAGNOLIA WARBLER were foraging. On the east side of the lake, in a patch of Marsh Mallow/Hibiscus, a larger bird that, based on its behavior and size, I at first took to be some kind of mimic thrush was hopping around. However upon putting my binoculars on it, it turned into a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT! On my way out, I stopped by the grove of cypress tree above the lake and was given nice views of a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER foraging. Two very cool warblers, and only the second and third records respectively for the park.

Good Birding!
