Hi Everybody: I took a short trip back to my work with my wife this evening. It is a 90+ acre facility (on private property off of Riffleford Rd. near Darnestown. We were slowly driving around the area (which has mixed habitat including a small stream running through the property, some forest, fields, several Christmas tree groves, etc.. Amongst a small flock of Chipping Sparrows and E. Bluebirds I saw one bird on the ground eating a large bug and wagging its tail (not a Phoebe). As I got closer it was an Eastern Race PALM WARBLER. After finishing its meal it flew into a nearby 15-foot spruce tree. As I slowly approached the tree and started spishing the yellow palm flew off and several seconds later I had a brown (WESTERN) PALM WARBLER pop up from the ground and into the same tree. This is only the third time that I remember seeing Palm Warblers on the property and they have always been the Yellow Race in the past.
