Subject: [MDBirding] Blue winged Warbler, & other migrants-Dewey Rd. RC Park.

Hi all,

I left for Wheaton Regional Park this morning, getting another late start, but when I got there
mowers were roaring, an active playground and I did the ultimate birding fax-pas and left my binoculars at home. Duh! Decided to switch gears, and head to Rock Creek Park off Dewey Road for migrants. (yep, got bins along the way). Right away I was greeted by a brilliant male Blue-winged Warbler hawking insects of the vines along the creek path. In the short time I birded, was able to get some variety:

Blue-winged Warbler 1
Magnolia Warbler 2
Blackpoll Warbler 1
Chesnut-sided Warbler 2
Hooded Warbler 1
Black & White Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Black throated Blue Warbler

American Redstart 4
Northern Parula

Ruby throated Hummingbird 1
Gray Catbirds
Eastern Wood Peewee
Red-eyed Vireo
Common Grackles (about 20)

European Starlings
American Goldfinches
