A new record was set today at the Cromwell Valley Park Hawk Watch as 3,439 Broad-winged Hawks were counted. Just over 300 BWs were seen before noon, after which the floodgates were opened. The largest group numbered 279 birds. Also seen was a Sand hill Crane spotted at 4:25 PM !! As is often the case, many of the BWs were very high and difficult to spot. Hats off to the observers who scanned the sky diligently!!
