Subject: [MDBirding] Laughing Gull at Patterson

Hi All,

This evening, there were more species than I have previously seen. I had my first PALM WARBLER of the season (surprisingly, a Yellow; are they already migrating?) and several BLACK-AND-WHITE and MAGNOLIAS.

Most interestingly though, was a single juvenile LAUGHING GULL that was circling around the southern end of the Park. It started out flying fairly low as if it had been sitting on one of the buildings or athletic fields down there and been spooked, which is quite likely. As I watched it swept onto a thermal and gained altitude rapidly. This is the second time this bird has been seen in Patterson Park. I know they're not exactly common in the City, but I don't think they're especially rare either... In any case, they don't tend to turn up in the Park, so it was kinda cool to see.

Good Birding!
