> I first headed to the pipeline . The wooded trail is pretty hard not to follow as others said park in the parking area and look for the tiny wooden railing . Go downhill from there. Go left at the bottom of the hill and follow the yellow dirt path . My problem was the trail that went off to the left by the number 13 . I didnt know which way to go . I changed my mind a few times before finally just going straight and not taking the number 13 trail . This brought me to a pipeline and i saw a sign that was really not very visible at the edge of the woods that said not to go beyond that point . Not sure if i would have been allowed to go trail 13 as that would have taken me past the pipeline.
> So anyway i didnt see the birders there so i headed to the right toward the dam . Noone that way so i went back to the pipeline . I waited here for a bit hoping for the bird to make a pass thru . Didnt see it so headed back to toward the dam along the beach . When i got to the corner where it goes to the right to go back to the cove where i came in at i saw white bird flying at said spot over by the powerhouse . It landed in the water . Cant say i was exactly seeing the black head or beak for that matter but it was looking like good candidate . The white was really bright . Sort of like a black blob with a bright white area . I headed around the cove back to the boat launch and toward the dam . Got a few bad pics and then headed closer for possible clear view of the head . Still even with scope was not seeing a head . Getting close to 730 now . Lost the bird . Heading back and spot the bird directly across from the boat launch . Boaters all heading in .I really think this bird was avoiding people even though there werent many there . When it upended once more i was able to view the black on the back and now finally certain that it was the Sabines gull . It flew toward the pipeline and disappeared .
> Also want to note for anyone contemplating going that i only saw one other gull there so likely wont have hard time picking it out .
