Yesterday was our annual fall count which was fairly slow. Had to really work to get any warblers and overall a lackluster bird day (but gorgeous day to be out!)
Today was much more active and I was delighted to hear and then see a small flock of Boblinks flyover at Fox Chase. No new sparrows for the fall but the numbers were good. I had 3 flyover Laughing Gulls in my yard and then 450 Broad-winged hawks in the late afternoon at Alpha Ridge. A �river� coming over high up...might have been more but I spent the rest of the afternoon looking down
One of the coolest (and a little grotesque) things I have seen was a smartweed caterpillar with parasitic wasp larvae hatching out of it. http://flic.kr/p/dbghXS
