Subject: [MDBirding] Olive-sided Flycatcher at Governor Bridge NA, 9/17

Olive-sided Flycatcher is a nemesis bird for me. Have chased them and looked in every dead snag at the appropriate time. Finally caught up with the one reported on Saturday at the usual dead tree by the canoe launch at Governor Bridge Natural Area this morning.

When I first spied the usual tree, the bird was absent. My heart sank. Then I noticed a flycatcher perched on a tree a bit further west. Got the scope on it and Voila! OSFL. I snapped a distant photo then it flew to the usual tree. I move a bit closer and snapped a few more pix before it flew across the river on a feeding foray. I waited for a few minutes but it didn't return. Considering I had used up 25 minutes of my one hour lunch break just to get there, I couldn't wait around any longer. I'm assuming that since the bird is there this morning, it'll stick around the rest of the day. If it's not there right away, patience is in order.
Next nemesis bird, Black Rail.
