The (an?) Olive-sided Flycatcher continues at Governor Bridge in Bowie. I first saw it this morning on the Anne Arundel side of the river, before it relocated to its usual snag on the PG County side of the river. I also encountered a group of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks near the canoe launch, numbering anywhere from 7-10 birds.
Another highlight of the morning was seeing a bright Philadelphia Vireo at point blank range. This is my fifth Philadelphia Vireo of the fall. I typically only see 1-2 individuals a year. It's also been my impression that I'm not the only one seeing more of these guys than usual, so I decided to bring up the line graphs for Maryland in the last three years to see if the data backed up my impression. It does. This fall is outpacing 2010, and far outpacing 2011. Here's the link to the graph: http://ebird.org/ebird/GuideMe?src=changeDate&speciesCodes=phivir&getLocations=states&states=US-MD&parentState=US-MD&reportType=species&monthRadio=on&bMonth=01&eMonth=12&bYear=2010&eYear=2012&yearOptions=separateYears&continue.x=50&continue.y=16
