I also did the PG count, and had a few notable highights. Highlights mentioned below are based on the location and time of year. I covered Patuxent River Park at Mt Calvert, Jackson Landing and Selby's Lndg. Although not surprised, it was disappointing to not find a Connecticut Warbler last weekend. It seems they've been found all over and were more prevalent than most years.

In general, passerine migrants were very thin last weekend where I birded, especially warblers. Despite the excellent variety of habitat I covered, I only found 6 warbler spp. The only worthy mention was the obvious influx of Palm Warblers (found 13), which were all westerns.

Highlights:

BW Teal 2
PB Grebe 1
Gr Egret 6
Egretta sp. 1 (too far to id; perched with GREGs; small, all white; was
either a SNEG, CAEG, or LBHE)
Osprey 1 (getting late)
Northern Harrier 1 (hunting over marsh)
Virginia Rail 1 (calling, probably same bird heard recently at my house)
Sora 9 (careful count but likely very low; Jug Bay is full of them now)
Lesser Yellowlegs 1 (mudflats good at low tide, but only 1 shorebird present!)
Red-headed Wdpkr 2 adults, moving north along the river
Horned Lark 4 (Selbys; possibly the residents, which can easily be missed)
Red-br Nuthatch 1
Marsh Wren 1 (Mt Calvert)
6 warbler spp. (noteworthy due to low diversity)
Grasshopper Sparrow 2 (Mt Calvert; possibly hold-over breeders, hard to say)
Savannah Sparrow 3 (Selbys; fos)
RB Grosbeak 6 (all singles; seemed to be everywhere!)
Blue Grosbeak 1 (Selbys; nice surprise; they have dissapeared rapidly)
Dickcissel 1 (Mt Calvert; nice surprise; calling a lot as it flew by; seemed
to be looking for place to land, but kept going)
Purple Finch 0! (surprised, finch #s are high now)

Cheers!
