More important than the handful of rarities was just enjoying the numbers of birds, my first day overwhelmed by numbers and diversity this season. That's the best. Blue Jays filled the sky all morning and Red-breasted Nuthatches were almost never out of earshot. I watched nine of them drop out of the sky in a tight flock, which was great. My two best birds were a BICKNELL'S THRUSH calling from a perch near the lighthouse right around sunrise and a CONNECTICUT WARBLER along the Lighthouse Trail (details and specific location in the eBird checklist). There was a reasonably good thrush flight before dawn where I was excited to close out GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH (i.e., all 23 Maryland Counties). The total of 17 warbler species was satisfying, and I picked up six county birds in all for the day - the spoils of September! Bill,

Having a hard time with a slow computer, so if you've already receive this, disegard. I walked the trail through the woods, and unforunately, didn't see the Connecticut. Would have been nice, since, I see far too few Connecticuts. Fortunately, I did have a young Connecticut at Turkey Point, on the 6th of Sept, by the porta-potty of all places! Didn't see too much of anything else, but can't complain - an awesome morning! I guess you figured out I didn't have that Fork tailed flycatcher-maybe next time! Hope to see you in the field soon, and again, nice birding with you as always,

Lin
