Subject: [MDBirding] Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, RFK, Constitution Gardens

I spent much of the day birding eastern DC by metro, mostly at Kenilworth Park fields and the Aquatic Gardens. I ended up with 65 species at Kenilworth (eBird list below), with highlights including a Purple Finch (female, at the beginning of the River Trail in KAG) and 13 warbler species.

At RFK, the shrinking puddles had no shorebirds; however, I did see some high-flying migrants heading south above the Anacostia River, including 3 Bald Eagles, a Cooper's Hawk, and numerous sky-high migrating Monarch Butterflies and dragonflies. Also, at least 1 Northern Shoveler (an somewhat uncommon DC bird) continues at Constitution Gardens.
