I'd recommend using eBird (http://ebird.org/content/ebird/)

Select MD and then either "entire region" or "counties", then >Continue.
The bar charts give you a good idea of what to expect, and roughly how
frequently each species is observed during each weekly period. You can
really drill down, for example only display 2012 data if you wish.

There are also maps - the red symbols are recent sightings (within 30
days). You might have to zoom in a little to see those for some common
species.
