Subject: [MDBirding] Wheaton Regional Park & Brookside Gardens today

Hi all,

Rather a quiet day at WRP today -- well, rather quiet bird-wise but NOT noise-wise as the mowers were out in force, despite the grass still only about 2" high due to dry conditions! Once they got going most of the birds melted away. We did connect with at least part of the (rather flighty) Chipping Sparrow flock and saw the leucistic bird but no sign of last week's Clay-colored. Barry and I stopped for coffee and then spent about 45 minutes at Brookside Gardens which was rather active considering the time of day. Nine species of warbler, none in number except Yellowthroats. Had five Swainson's thrushes in one small dogwood which was nice. No stand-outs, however.
