Subject: [MDBirding] Taylor's Island, Dorchester Co.

Jim Brighton, George Armistead and I spent the first half of the day birding Taylor's. With NW winds overnight we were all optimistic that many birds would be on the move. We weren't disappointed, each resident flock of Chickadees, Titmouse and Brown-headed Nuthatches contained many migrants and we had plenty to look through at each stop.

While we didn't turn up anything unusual, we did find a late Canada Warbler and Hooded Warbler along with 16 other species of warblers. We also established a new high count in MD for Brown-headed Nuthatches with 62, narrowly surpassing the 58 Amanda Spears had in 2010. Bald Eagles also had an impressive showing with a total of 75 for the day, over 50 were seen at sunrise from Punch Island Road. We ended up with 93 species on the island!

Our complete island list can be seen here.
