Whenever I visit the Board of Education in Kent County, I accidentally overshoot by a few miles and only realize it once I arrive at the causeway at Eastern Neck NWR. I must have missed my tern.
Well actually, no. There were two Caspian, two Forster's and two ROYAL TERN on the flats East of the causeway. It was pouring rain, so I quickly checked for odd flycatchers on the wires and hedgerows. But then the rain really began coming down in buckets...
Later...
This evening at Sandy Point, there was a single adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL mixed in with decent numbers of the regulars. One Greater Black-backed Gull had something tied / clipped around its leg. I tried to approach, but the bird flew out into the bay, despite looking exhausted and unable to fly far.
Good Birding,
