Subject: [MDBirding] Patterson this Morning

Hi All,

Tim Carney and I birded at Patterson for about 2 hours this morning. We happened across some nice birds. In the fallen tree branches near the community gardens we had PALM (western), MAGNOLIA and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS as well as a WINTER WREN and BOTH KINGLETS. At that location yesterday evening we also had WOOD, SWAINSON'S and GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSHES and BOTH NUTHATCHES.

Near the Boat Lake, we had a COOPER'S and a RED-TAILED HAWK. Then Time said he spotted an unusual woodpecker. After a moment more of observation it turned into a juvenile RED-HEADED WOODPECKER perched at the top of one of the big, old sycamores near the native plant garden just above the lake.

Shortly after Time left this morning, I had a small flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS and a single juvenile TREE SWALLOW fly by.

In addition, I have recently had SWAMP, LINCOLN'S and FIELD SPARROWS along with the regular SONG and WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS.

Good Birding!
